#EverydayPeople – Keep your self-talk positive

I met Sneha at the first Earth Magic Retreat. A beautiful soul who looked timid, but you could see the fire she held within. Sneha is full of life and so much joy. When I read this piece, I was not surprised at the mindsets she says pulled her through. To me, the girl is magic.

To Sneha,

I’m so happy our paths crossed. I love your essence.

To my readers,

Find where or in whom does your strength lie. Identify the source and be aware so that when the tough times strike you know exactly where to turn your attention to.

Describe a challenging incident of your life; something that changed you or your life.

In 2015, on my fourth visit to my sister in the States, I was stopped and detained for over 24 hours at Chicago airport and then deported back to India for no stated cause. This led to unexpected emotional and financial stress. My folks were enraged, so was I.

Looking back what was the mindset that helped you push through this or overcome this challenge?

What pulled me through those 24 hours in a detainment cell on foreign soil was purely faith. I found strength knowing that I have to get out and go back to the people who love me, and to a life I immensely loved.

One life tip for others; a way of thinking, a perspective or an action that helps you pull through the ups and downs of life.

At a time of crisis, when everything seems hopeless, remember what makes you feel “alive”. It could be people or things. Focus on that and motor through! And remember, your thoughts determine your life events, so always keep your self-talk positive.

Do drop by next week for a new dose of #everydaypeople

The series #everydaypeople is about understanding that “life happens” to everyone. We all need a little dose of inspiration, a tiny sense of “there are others going through something similar” and, some #protips and #lifehacks to help us through.
